The composite of this bed is akin to what my husband described as sawdust and glue - it would not be able to sustain a person's weight without falling part and would be need to be bracketed heavily to be of any use! Do not waste your money on this particular product; we ended up disposing of this frame the next day! Also, the color of the finish is more brown than cherry!

After reading reviews for other South Shore products, I was hesitant to purchase this bed frame. I was worried the wood would arrive broken, but I was hoping that would not be the case, as I needed to purchase a cheaper bed frame. Luckily, everything arrived intact. I went with this model because it was the only one I could find in cherry and it matches my previous antique cherry furniture very well. Considering the price, these ares the pros and cons:Pros:1. The directions said assembly required two people. I assembled the whole bed frame on my own in a little over an hour (and I am a female). If you are good with directions, assembly shouldn't be much of a problem.2. The bed frame is very sturdy and looks like it could be more expensive than it really was. Also a big plus that it matched my other furniture.3. Good product for the price.Cons:1. If you are planning to move, the bed frame will be hard to move considering it will not come apart unless taking out some screws.2. There are a couple places where you are required to insert some screws and there are no pre-made holes. This confused me a bit at first, but I was able to figure it out.All that being said, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this product.

It's cheap and sturdy, but it's also cheap looking. Just flimsy contact paper over particle board. All in all, it looks better (until you get a chip in the contact paper) and is a little sturdier than the Ikea equivalent.
